Data Center Consolidation and Migration to AWS Cloud Platform

Our client is a large US based Healthcare payment and information exchange network of 2,200 Payors, 5,500 Hospitals and Health systems, and 900,000 Physicians. Faced with Data Center scability issues and rising infrastructure costs, they decided to consolidate their Data Centers and migrate their applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud platform.

Accion Labs managed this Program with a globally distributed team and migrated all environments including Development, QA, Staging and Production from their existing on-premise Data Centers to AWS Cloud platform

PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION (PHI)

Applications and Databases handling Protected Health Information (PHI) were migrated using PHI compliant encryption of communication and data during storage & transmission.

ENGAGEMENT METHODOLOGY

Accion held stakeholder discussions and deep dive sessions to build a solution for re-engineering and automation of legacy applications coded in Windows scripts. We used Agile development framework with 2-week sprints and 1 SCRUM team. We setup a cross-functional Dev Ops team consisting of an onsite Project Manager, an onsite Lead Cloud Architect and offshore Dev Ops Engineers.

Accion Labs team also created a roadmap for migration including Application Analysis, Cloud Architecture Design, Infrastructure Automation, Application Deployment, and Performance Testing. To facilitate high speed data transfer, the team recommended Tsunami (OSS) and created continuous delivery pipelines for applications from Development into Production environment.
