DBA support services for a leader in hybrid cloud solutions

Sometimes the best environment for a workload is the one that combines public cloud, private cloud and single-tenant dedicated environments. This leader provider of cloud services has created a true hybrid cloud, with multi-cloud flexibility. The result is the ability to connect dedicated bare metal environments to the private and public clouds of your choice.

By partnering with Accion, this client was able to successfully reduce the number of database builds by over 80%.

This client is a leader in hybrid cloud solutions, offering managed cloud services worldwide with a 100% network uptime guarantee. However, the issue of handling various database builds without overarching supervision led the client to seek help from Accion. The goal was to facilitate the technical documentation and implement a single monitoring tool across six data centers.

DEVOPS IN ACTION

Ashutosh Bijoor, CTO of AccionLabs, started by holding deep dive stakeholder discussions with the client. The goal was to establish shared best practices for various builds, in order to build awareness of the latest available technologies.

Following these discussions, Accion implemented an enterprise monitoring (EM) tool. The partnership was strengthened by continuous knowledge sharing and the setting of shared expectations. Accion provided technical documentation of new technology, providing AWR & ADDM reports. These reports were in turn used by the client’s internal team to provide on-demand performance tuning and troubleshooting support for the customer environment. Technology stack included databases & indexing engines using Oracle 9i,10g,11g, and 12c. Accion also upgraded the Oracle database to 12c RAC, as part of the client’s requirements.
