Up Close & Personal with: Howard Goodkind
President of Accion Labs UK & Europe
What is your educational background?
I left school at 16, probably not the wisest idea, this meant I soon had life experiences which my peer group took longer to learn.
What was your first job?
Real Estate agent, age 16
How long have you been at Accion?
How did you get your start at Accion?
I was introduced to Kinesh via our investors in London. I was instrumental in growing another pre-Basil venture known as APARInfoTech, this was later sold to Ness Technologies in 2005 by Warburg Pincus VC.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Continuous multi-tasking & thinking about growth, work-life balance in sync, whilst keeping the lights on. Every Entrepreneur will have a different take on what makes them different. For me it's thinking differently, having fun, every day brings a new challenge, lots of networking.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Customer & consultant delight, repeat business!
What is something that is unique or would surprise someone to know about you?
I like to try new things, Yoga takes me to a calm place, so important with the busy lives we lead. Two years ago I started to learn the Alto Sax, having never learnt music at school, my family now recognise some of the songs! It’s like anything… to be good at something you need to dedicate time, practice, practice, practice!
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
Spend time with friends & family, watch films, listen to music, keeping fit, and enjoying good food :)
