Jason Howard, President of Accion Labs Midwest
What is your educational background?
I received my undergraduate degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from Eastern Michigan University and my MBA with a focus on Value Driven Organizations along with my Graduate Certificate in Enterprise Systems both from Central Michigan University.
What was your first job?
My first job was detasseling corn and carrying bales of hay when I was 14.
How long have you been at Accion?
I have been with Accion almost 3 years, but I was a customer for 3 years prior to starting.
How did you get your start at Accion?
I have been working with Kinesh for over 15 years. I was brought on-board to help with the digital transformation I was doing at Gladson as their CIO 6 years ago.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Deciding where to focus. We just have so much opportunity and so much we could focus on, deciding what to prioritize and what we have the resources to focus on right now is sometimes a challenge.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Our impact is so wide and tangible...we work with so many great customers and in my role I get to interact across many of them...seeing all the exciting projects we are involved in across such a great and ranging number of customer partners and the impact we have on their companies, individuals, our people, the overall economy, etc...we have such a large impact!
What is something that is unique or would surprise someone to know about you?
I am a huge Sci-Fi fan, Star Wars being my favorite. Even though I grew up in the 70's and 80's, the first Star Wars movie I saw was Episode One. I wasn't introduced to Star Wars until the second trilogy came out.
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
My wife and I do a lot of mentoring with young couples and teenagers/young adults, we get so much reward from spending time with them. Also, I am an exercise junkie, talk to me at any time and I can tell you about the latest goal I'm trying to achieve through my training program.
